Informations for Doctors

Dear Colleagues,

The Departments of Emergency Medicine provide acute care for all kinds of trauma and illness 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Emergency Departments constitute the Charité gateway for patients requiring immediate medical attention and provide high quality care of all levels.

Medical ambulant treatment of acute illness or injuries is provided by physicians with practices, general practitioners and specialists. This ambulant treatment can be complemented by our Emergency Departments if necessary. This is also reflected by our medical goals:

  • Safe and fast diagnostic assessment using all the necessary equipment and resources of a university medical center
  • Inition of therapy and scheduling of further care
  • Allocation to the adequate level of care (outpatient, ward, intermediate care and intensive care)

The specific emergency medical treatment will be coordinated with the specialized medical divisions.

Our Departments of Emergency Medicine located on 3 campuses offer associated Intermediate Care Units for short-term (<48 hours) medical treatment and access to critical care.

If you would like to admit an acutely ill or injured patient to one of our Emergency Departments, please do not hesitate to contact us. You will find contact details including telephone numbers by selecting the campus here.

We are always interested in your feedback and will be pleased to receive your questions and comments preferably by email, please use "Contact" in the header line right of this webpage.

We appreciate your cooperation!
